- Can I publish a paper from the Free plan?
- Yes. The Free plan is the only one in this category that lets you publish without paying first. You get high-resolution PDF / PNG / SVG export, no watermark, and full commercial-use rights. The Free limit is AI generation: 5 lifetime custom images. Most users upgrade because they want recurring AI asset generation, not because we block figure editing.
- Why charge for AI images instead of seats?
- Image generation is the real marginal cost. Charging for seats makes collaboration worse, especially in labs. So the editor is free to use, workspace members can collaborate, and paid plans add monthly pooled AI generation.
- How does AI Lab compare to BioRender's $99 lab plan?
- AI Lab is $24/month flat, or $216/year, with 500 pooled AI image generations per month. Members are not priced as seats.
- When can my lab members join?
- Now. Workspace admins can invite lab members by email. We do not charge per seat; paid plans share a pooled monthly AI generation quota across the workspace.
- Can I export figures to SVG / PDF / PNG on every plan?
- Yes — all three formats, all plans, no watermark, print resolution. Submission-ready for Nature, Cell, eLife, and preprint servers.
